PRESS RELEASE LOCAL AIR CADETS MEET QUEEN ON VISIT TO SCOTLAND During a week long visit to Scotland, local air cadets from Hillington, Clydebank and Helensburgh met the Queen and Prince Phillip as they opened Clydebank Shopping centre on Friday 4th July after its recent refurbishment. The Queen and Prince Phillip sent several minutes with the cadets discussing their involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. Flight Sergeant Bobby Hastie (19) took great pride in informing them he is currently working on his Gold award. Cadet Elizabeth Brad (16) was lucky enough to be chosen to accompany the Royal party as they made their way along the crowds, chatting to several youth groups including the air cadets, army cadets and girl guides. Cadet Brad said, “The Queen seemed very interested in all of the youth groups, asking lots of questions and she thanked me for all my help.” After a reception and lunch at Clydebank Town Hall, the cadets again paraded, this time to send her off with three cheers for Her Majesty!
