May / June 2008 Longest day Gliding
By Cdt Marc Geddes On Saturday the 28th of June the Squadron went gliding at RAF Kirknewton. Sadly we were delayed by the slight rain so after the briefing we all watched a movie. Eventually when we were given the okay and we headed out to the gliders. First we had to squeegee the wings, the fuselages and the canopies of the gliders before we could get in the air. I was first out of our squadron to be in the air. I was sitting GIC 1 and I got 3 flights in a row. I thought it was amazing as it was my first time being in a glider. Many other cadets sat GIC 1. Some sat GIC 2 (4 flights) and some sat GIC 3 (5 flights). If you were not flying at the time you could help by getting the gliders ready for take off by attaching the winch cable or holding the wings level. I had a few shots of each and thought it was great. Everyone thought that day was amazing and hopes to do it again. 122 Inter-Squadron Football Tournament
By Cpl Peter Hastie One parade night in June myself, Sgt Falconer, Sgt Kayani, Cpl Kelly, Cdt Porter, Cdt McKenzie, Cdt Geddes and Cdt Watson travelled to the 7 a side football fields the next to the West of Scotland science park for an inter squadron 7 a side football tournament. We were fairly optimistic we had a fast mid field and a strong defence. However our original goalie (me) was hopeless and after being beaten 3-0 then 7-0 the goalie was kicked out and put in to mid field. Cpl Kelly was put in goal. And this switch spurred us on to achieve our best result of the night 0-0. Though we kept loosing I did notice a slight improvement, but we still came in dead last. With a little hard work effort and fitness I am adamant that next year we can come in at least 2nd last. |
