Air Training Corps.
The Air Training Corps is a national voluntary youth organization
designed to develop the qualities of young people. It is sponsored by the Royal
Air Force and provides challenging aviation, adventurous and community
activities.

Wing
Athletics

4 cadets represented the squadron at the West Scotland
Wing Athletics Competition on Sun 15th May. The event was held at Dam Park,
Ayr and was the first to include the new squadrons in the wing. The team
returned with 5 medals. Cdt McLean won 3 gold medals and the shield for Best
Junior Female. Well Done!
Cadet Forces Recruitment Day

The squadron assisted at a joint recruitment day alongside the Army cadets and Sea cadets on
Saturday the 7th of May. The cadets handed out leaflets throughout the town
to advertise the event and did a fantastic job all day.
Scottish
2-Day marches

3 cadets from
2175 (Rolls-Royce) squadron joined the
Glasgow Wing Road Marching team
took part in the Scottish 2 day marches from 30th April - 1st
May. The Scottish Garelochhead Marches is a Tri-Service military event for
units wishing to qualify for the Nijmegen 4 Day International Marches in
July. It consists of two days of road marching at 40km per day. All 3; CWO
Hastie, Sgt McKenzie and Cdt McKenzie were selected for the marches.
Wing Clay Target Team Trials
The first trials for the Wing Clay Target Team were held at
Dechmont Ranges on Saturday the 30th of April. 2 cadets from 2175
(Rolls-Royce) squadron attended the trials and both were selected for the
next round. Cadets were scored not just on how many clays they shot
but also on Physical ability, swing, aim, attitude and safety.
Congratulations to Cpl Sullivan and Cdt Macleod who were selected for the
next round.
Isle
of Bute Hike
13 cadets from 2175 (Rolls-Royce), 2414 (East
Kilbride) and 1740 (Clydebank) squadrons completed an exploration of the
Isle of Bute as part of their Duke of Edinburgh's Award from the 15th - 17th
of April. They visited, St Ninians Bay, St Blanes Church and
Ettrick Bay, where the first Scottish heavier than air flight took place.
The cadets were met at one of their checkpoints by, Mr. Lacey, in his
supercub aircraft! The silver group's route took them past the islands only
airfield which was too good an opportunity to miss.
