2175 (Rolls-Royce) Squadron

Air Training Corps

Welcome to our site

This is the official homepage of 2175 (Rolls-Royce) Squadron, Air Training Corps. The Air Training Corps is a  national voluntary youth organization designed to develop the qualities of young people. It is sponsored by the Royal Air Force and provides challenging aviation, adventurous and community activities.

The squadron motto is "Vindico Exellentia" which means "To deliver excellence". This is what the squadron delivers from each of its' cadets, young people aged 13 to 20. Our crest features the phoenix rising from the flames which symbolises the continued development and re-growth of a squadron which has served the local community since 1947. Bag Packing

8 cadets completed a successful 2 day bag pack at our local Marks & Spencers store in Braehead, raising £974.74. The money will be used to help purchase new squadron T-shirts and jumpers in time for the Wing Athletics competition.

Presentations

Several cadets were presented with Classification training certificates and Wing sporting blues as well as first aid badges and certificates at the recent CO's inspection.

Dining In Night

Our 3rd annual dining in night and MacPherson awards was held at the Watermill hotel, Paisley in November. The NCO and Cadet of the the year trophies were both won by Cpl Peter Hastie. Runner up was Cpl Stephen Kelly. The Junior cadet of the year was Cdt John Porter and the Recruit of the year was awarded to Cdt Claire McKenzie.

PGL Outward Bound

4 of our cadets joined 1089 squadron on an outward bound weekend. The cadets enjoyed raftbuilding and canoeing.

Leuchars Airshow

The squadron participated in a successful trip to the Leuchars Airshow in September. Highlights included the Vulcan in flight and the Tornado display (pictured).

Parachuting!

Cpl Peter Hastie successfully completed the ATC parachuting course at RAF Weston-on-the-Green in July. After extensive training and testing he was deemed competent enough to attempt a static line jump from 3000ft. The course is open to all cadets above the age of 16 and costs only £60! This includes all transport, accommodation, food, training and the jump itself. This is a unique opportunity for air cadets and we enjoyed your report. Well Done Cpl Hastie!....Click here to see the full picture.
